I am Persian, and while it’s a different culture from Afghan culture, we are bordering countries and speak the same language. In Persian and Afghan culture in general, the man is the king of the Home, and young men are obligated to marry a good submissive muslim girl from their country. It’s extremely common for cultural differences to cause major tensions in relationships between a middle eastern man and a western woman, especially regarding Islam and how women are treated. I know many men who spent 5, 10, 15 years with a western woman who desperately wants to marry him only to have the relationship fail and the man find a woman from his country who he marries almost immediately. I have seen it very many times and this is my own culture.
