Renee Martine Lamanna went missing on January 8th, 1994 in Ocean City, New Jersey after fleeing her sister’s home. Later that night, she was seen at the Waterfront Bar in Somers Point, New Jersey, and there have been other sightings of her in and around New York City, New York.
In 2015, a woman in Virginia believed that Renee had been found: she met a woman similar to Renee’s description in a supermarket, and contacted the Lamanna families help line: 1-888-Renee11. She took photos of the woman, and they began to appear online.
The woman, who was homeless, disheveled and aged from years on the street, seemed like she could be a match. News agencies from around the world picked up the story, and it went viral: suddenly, everyone was looking for the woman who could be Renee Lamanna. We discuss the outcome of this search in the episode.
